Jessica GrampHi, I’m Jessica Gramp, Moodle Community Manager. I split my time between Australia and Europe. Check out my CV on LinkedIn.

I’m a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy with a background in web development and have been working to support the use of technology in educational institutions since 2004. I’m particularly interested in e-assessment, accessibility, digital scholarship and learning design.

I’ve been working with Moodle since 2004, and have been an active learning technologist, developer, bug reporter, tester and Moodle documentation contributor since this time. I have attended and presented at many IE/UK MoodleMoots over the years and I presented two papers at the Moodle Research Conference in Tunisia in 2013.

I was introduced to Moodle when I first graduated from university and was asked to setup a School Intranet and Learning Management System in Brisbane. I was responsible for developing, administering and supporting teachers and students using Moodle in the classroom. I worked with junior school students, up to senior high school students.

I then worked in the corporate sector for a year and a half, supporting and developing commercial CMS and EDRMS software systems at Logica CMG (now CGI). I also ran training with corporate clients on how to use the commercial CMS system, RedDot.

When I moved to London in 2008 I worked at University College London as a Learning Technologist and E-Learning Advisor for over 10 years. In these roles I led the development of UCL’s E-Learning Baseline, helped build the UCL E-Learning Champions’ Network, led the Accessible Moodle project, led a team of learning technologists in the UCL Engineering faculty and helped deliver the UCL CMALT mentorship programme. I also worked with academic teams from a wide range of faculties across the university to develop courses and improve the use of Moodle and other learning technologies.

I joined the Moodle Users Association (MUA) committee in 2017 and held the position of Treasurer in 2018-19. I held the role of MUA Community Administrator from 2020-2021.

In 2014, I initiated the development of an open source Moodle plugin called MyFeedback, that is now being on over 460 Moodle sites across the world and is used by students and staff across UCL to help them compare their assessment feedback.

In late 2019, I launched my UK business Inclusive Web Limited, which provided e-learning and project management services and learning design and accessibility workshops to higher education institutions in Europe and Australasia.

In 2019-2020, I project managed the Erasmus+ ABC to VLE project, working with 13 partners across Europe to improve pre and post ABC workshop support and helping other institutions to localise the method.

In 2020-21, I led a team of 3 instructional designers at the University of Edinburgh to develop short online courses and worked closely with the media production, marketing and course coordination teams to ensure the smooth delivery of the Online Course Production Service.

My educational background is:

  • Bachelor Multimedia, Griffith University
  • Master Project Management, University of Southern Queensland (online)
  • Master Digital Education, University of Edinburgh (online)

In my free time I enjoy travelling, camping, cycling, hiking, yoga and paddle boarding.

I also like to cook and when I left Australia, I had to leave behind my cook books, so now I put my favourite recipes online. You can find these on my recipe blog.
